Leeds United’s start to life under Marcelo Bielsa in the Championship has been a superb one, and there’s every chance that the Whites can end up back in the top flight sooner rather than later.

Bielsa has managed to employ his high energy style to Elland Road with particular ease, and despite dropping points, there has been times when the Whites have looked far and away better than their opponents in the second tier.

Leeds head into this weekend in second position, just two points behind early leaders Sheffield United, and they will be looking to ensure they continue their excellent start into and throughout the tough winter period the English game is renowned for.

However, there are things which need to keep falling into place for the Whites to ensure promotion, and we at the Transfer Tavern have taken a look at TWO things Leeds need to do to ensure they win promotion…

Beat their rivals

In an ever increasingly tight Championship race, beating your closest rivals is going to be key for any team with hopes of promotion.

For Leeds, who want to seal a top two spot, beating the likes of Sheffield United, Middlesbrough, and West Brom, could well prove crucial as they seek to finally regain their place among English football’s elite in the top flight.

With big summer signing Patrick Bamford injured for the majority of the campaign now, and with with only Kemar Roofe as a central striker seemingly capable of firing the goals in, Leeds need to add more quality in January.

It showed in September when Roofe was out injured just how much the Whites miss him, and signing a striker of significant quality in the winter window could prove vital for their promotion hopes.
