Liverpool fans have called for their club to sign Lyon forward Memphis Depay after the attacker scored in Wednesday’s pre-season friendly between the two clubs.

The Reds were first linked with the Netherlands international towards the back end of the 2018-19 campaign.

As it stands, the former Manchester United attacker will be a Lyon player once again during the 2019-20 season.

It did not work out for Depay in England, but he has scored 39 times and registered 41 assists in 116 competitive matches for Lyon.

The 25-year-old also made the breakthrough in Wednesday’s pre-season clash between the two sides – netting from the penalty spot in the early stages.

That said, Depay could not prevent his side from suffering a 3-1 defeat on the night.

A number of Liverpool supporters were clearly impressed with the Dutchman’s display and have since called on their club to move for him before the transfer window slams shut.
